Some Folks Do For Guitar In G
Some folks Do, guitar vocal lead sheet with tab in G
The key of G
The tab lead sheet for "Some Folks Do" in the key of G is pictured below. The key of G
has one sharp. It is f sharp. As it applies to every f in the key, it is in the key signature
between the treble clef sign and the time signature, on the top f line of the staff. Notice
how the melody notes are lower on the staff than they were in the key of C. A male
baritone should be able to sing these notes at the very same pitch. In the C example
above a male baritone would most likely have to sing an octave below where the notes
are written. Listen to the sound sample. Play the notes on your guitar. Sing along and
check your voice range. Do the same for the C example above. If you don't have to drop
an octave to sing the song in the key of C than your voice extends into the tenor range.
One of the reasons that you want to be able to play in different keys is to be able to sing
a song in a range that fits your voice.

Bass Chord IN G
The I and V7 chords that you need to back up "Some Folks Do" in the key of G are
pictured below. I've included the IV chord, C, that you would need to play a three chord
song in this key but all you need for this song is the I and V7. Try playing accompaniment
for the melody sound sample and/or your singing of the song.  Notice how the melody is
lower in pitch than in the key of C. It's not to low for a tenor voice but also not too high for
a baritone voice either. Both can sing to the exact pitch. You can strum the chords or
play the bass chord style shown on the tab. I've given you a midi sample of the tab.
This page is one of three supplementary  pages for free folk guitar lesson one "Playing
Folk Guitar" These three pages each cover one of the favored folk keys of G, D and A. I
